Glass Bottle Apps October 2014 Update

It’s the start of a new month, and our one year anniversary is getting closer. September was another challenging, but also successful month. We also have a clearer direction on where we are going between now and December.

First of all, the results. We continue to see a steady increase in the number of downloads for most of our apps, and we have finally earned enough to prove we can be profitable. Our web traffic has also increased to the point where it makes sense to start adding advertisements to some pages. The glassbottleapps.com website was originally intended for news and support, but by adding ads, we can invest more into providing useful web content and web apps to help you, our users, save money in more ways.

We have also launched a new GB wallpapers page to provide some Glass Bottle themed wallpapers/backgrounds for your smartphones and desktops.

We have had a few challenges around anticipating the iPhone 6 and iOS 8 launch, covered in more detail here, but I expected there may have been problems getting all the updates out quickly, and planned around the launch accordingly. As of today, both Whack a Mayor and Fundometer are updated to be iOS 8 ready and optimized for the larger screens of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Now, I am going to have to comment on Google Play’s new policy of requiring an address to be displayed publicly. On principle, I am against this, as it is a potentially serious privacy risk for any developer working from their home address. I did contact Google’s developer support, and they referred me to this link (http://ec.europa.eu/justice/consumer-marketing/files/crd_guidance_en.pdf) for guidance on what is truly required. I have not read through the lengthy document yet, but I am confident we will find a workable solution for Glass Bottle Apps.

Going forward, there are some new projects we will work on based on the results of our survey. I am currently analyzing the survey results and will be providing updates on which projects we are working on later this month. Expect at least two new apps by our one year anniversary.
